Historia rozumienia świata Piotra Kowalskiego

Abstrakt:
Imponujący dorobek P. Kowalskiego, zwartość wielu jego książek (tematycznie różnych), wszystkich rozpatrywanych łącznie, daje to, co było jego świadomym zamiarem: "dzieje rozumienia świata". Na te składają się opisy "kultury magicznej" i "kultury popularnej" (ponowoczesności), jako takich które są odrębnymi całościami, nie ma między nimi historycznej ciągłości, jakby "historia mentalności" składała się z dwóch etapów, polegała na przejściu od form symbolicznych do znaków konwencjonalnych. Tę historię opisał jako historię znaków i tekstów, proces utraty referencjaności form semiotycznych. Całkowicie różne rodzaje kultur": "kultura magiczna" i "kultura ponowoczesna" wymagają więc odmiennych metod interpretacyjnych. Niniejszy artykuł jest krytyką tych podstawowych twierdzeń P. Kowalskiego, na których wspierają jego publikacje.
